Birmingham Adventure: Cherish loved ones...and Cambridge

This morning got news that one of my younger cousins had been diagnosed with CA. Very very sad to hear about it. But it's great that he's being positive about it. Quite sad cos it has been a few months since he was diagnosed and he underwent treatment without us knowing. Wonder where these CA cells come from...attacking people like no one's business and despite their age. Sad to say but it seems to run in my family...so I'm kinda prepared that I may just get it one day. But all is in God's plan. I learnt to cherish time spent with loved ones more especially after my mum's ordeal. Live life to the fullest, cherish people around you and bless them. I'm just so thankful for the Lord for delaying my studies the year before so I could be there for my mum..and protecting my dad when he went for op when I wasn't around...and protecting and watching over them and allowed us to spend 3 weeks together here and Europe. I am not someone who expresses feelings well esp in speech but I hope my actions do tell how much I love them. And of course, my relatives too..especially my mum's side. Life is really just too short...prob that's why I refused to bring work home whenever I can cos work is neverending. Even if it means watching tv tog, I still enjoy it. I know I can be unreasonable and bossy to my parents sometimes or maybe most of the time but I'm trying to change..and that's how I communicate with my dad..hah..

Then I received my boss's email..HR replied her that she has already advised me to get my own ticket (wrote in capital letters somemore) but it was between boss and HR (boss just BCC-ed me). I was really pissed. Since when did she send me email telling me to get my own ticket? So as advised by boss, sent her quotes of air tix..and so in a separate email (without boss's email to her), I sent her print screens of flight from Bham to SG on Lufthansa and SQ, SQ London to SIN and cab quote Bham to London and CC-ed my boss. Then I left for Cambridge so no access to my SG hp till when I got back...so checked my hp and email..my boss actually decided and asked me to book cab and go the London route cos of the £2+K savings! But then later HR replied telling me to book from Bham-London-SG (think she meant Bham-transit in Europe then SG cos there's no direct flight to London la!) and said it'll be too long a journey from Bham to London and MOH only reimburses cab fare to airport. She DID NOT mention that she had advised me earlier lor...guess she dare not say! In her next email, she asked me to show her the flight ticket immediately (I don't know why also since I'll be paying for it first). So then my boss replied her clarifying if asking me to book the £3K flight and added technically I'll be taking cab to the airport. And added in another email asking if I don't have enough £ in my debit account, will HR be able to pay for me. Then at 11.25pm HR replied me and boss saying can't cost that much unless I'm taking business or first class and added they never had such an issue. Then in the end said she will get the ticket for me cos it's causing too much concerns but no more changes after she books and no more extra baggage allowance. So I replied them very politely saying I was very surprised at the cost too and added that it will be helpful of her to book for me and the dates are fine as mentioned in my July email (I can't stress enough when the email was sent!!!!). And said no worries about baggage allowance cos I'll sort it out by myself. Hopefully what S says is true..that I can show them uni letter that my course has ended and I can get more baggage allowance. So that should be sorted. If I don't hear from her by tomorrow (as she stated), I'll go and find out from agencies the cost. I was trying to be nice to help save cost to offer to take cab to London lor...now like that I also v sian..just fly out from Bham and hopefully can check through the luggage. Just mafan to carry handcarry when I transit. But nvm la...now I just can't wait to go home to be with my family. At least there're still flights back so I'm not that worried.

Ok, on to the happier stuff...so Cambridge...basically it's a Uni town..hah..the coach ride was pretty good..reached on time..then the coach came late but managed to reach Bham earlier than the time stated! But waited v long for my bus back cos lower frequency at night. But got home ard 8.45pm..only Poppy was in. No idea if the potential tenant came or not. Guess L will tell me tmr.

So here are some pics of Cambridge. Took the punting tour when we arrived. After that walked round the city to take some pics then had early dinner and headed to coach stop. Think the time is enough cos we didn't shop..just sightsee, take photos and eat. Weather there was lovely...really summer weather but it became cooler towards the late afternoon. So different from here!
